Today I'm going to share with you a very useful option I found in macOS - creating custom keyboard shortcuts in any application. All with the help of built-in features, so you don't need to install anything.
Select a menu item
First you need to select yourself the menu item you want to access. In my case it was copying Rich Text in the Ulysses program. This menu option is hidden in the Edit menu and then Copy as. Save yourself the whole path like this Edit->Copy as->Rich Text
.
Shortcut definition
Now you say go into System Settings, then Keyboard and you will find the option Keyboard shortcuts.
This is the panel for defining any keyboard shortcuts (you can also change the behaviour of function keys such as Caps Lock
). On the left-hand side, select App shortcuts.
Now after clicking +
below the shortcuts list, you can select any application, type the path to the menu command, define your keyboard shortcut and you have your own keyboard shortcut!
Like many things in macOS, this option is a bit hidden, but mega useful. Enjoy using it!
